Splurging in Morocco

On our 10 day vacation to Morocco, I crossed over into the world of snobby traveling.  I splurged on multiple occasions, most of them born from convenience or laziness.  They include:
  1. 16 euro ham and cheese sandwich at the Paris airport.  It's amazing how an international airport that is a hub for many connections can have such poor poor selection.
  2. 500 MAD car ride from airport to hotel whereas the car from the the hotel to the airport was only 250 MAD
  3. Room service dinner after concierge recommended to me only Pizza Hut or Chinese
  4. Paid hotel staff to pick up my "lost" luggage from the airport, saving me the trip.
  5. Tipping the bellhop 50 MAD because I didn't have any smaller change.  Come to think of it, we did a lot of tipping on this trip.
  6. $100 dinner for two for some overcooked fish tangine. Restaurant was recommended by the first Riad we stayed at in Marrakesh
  7. And 3 horse carriage rides because my son kept asking for them.
All in all a great trip even though at times it could be overwhelming, especially in the Medina of Marrakesh.  Some photos below.  More photos here.

Donkeys are known as the Berbers' 4x4

Makai wasn't happy with just a monkey on his shirt.
He wanted one on hi shoulder as well.

Next he moved on to snakes.
At least it wasn't a cobra.

Atlas mountains was a nice excursion
from the chaos of Marrakesh

Jana bought new dessert plates.  Anyone wanting to see
is welcome to come visit us.  Bring enough dessert for us too.

Soccer

Dana, a colleague of mine, plays for a professional soccer team here in Israel.  Makai and I went out for one of her games yesterday.  After the game was over, Makai took to the field.  I got him to dribble the ball back and forth across the entire field.  Pretty surprising for a kid who doesn't like walking...

I pulled out the camera too late to capture his best dribbling moments.
